After a long, arduous drive across very rugged mountain roads, we spied this quaint little town, revamped to look like an 'old' town, with board walks and very interesting buildings and shops. The hotel itself was extremely beautiful, the room was quite spacious, tastefully decorated, quiet and comfortable. The balcony was much appreciated as it gave us a breathless morning view of the stream. There was a hot tub in a cedar- lined enclosure, open partially on one side facing the stream. What more could you ask for? The new owners are very helpful and gracious.

Hotel Rio Vista is a great place to get away from it all. It's location in Winthrop is perfect, the restaurants and shops are all within walking distance, and the hotel has private balconies overlooking the river. I ventured down to the riverside picnic area and immersed myself in my favorite book as I watched the sun go down. I also relaxed in the hot tub both nights I was there. It was the most peaceful and relaxing get-away I have had in a long time. Thank you Hotel Rio Vista! I will definitely be coming back!

What a find! Rio Vista is a delightful hotel located on the shores of the Chewuch River. All of the rooms have a balcony so everyone can enjoy the view. The rooms were comfortable and the decor fit with the western feel of the town. The weather was still warm thought it was October so we were able to leave the windows open at night and we could fall asleep to the sound of the river. Check out the museum across the street from the hotel that is a short walk up the hill.

We stayed here 2 nights last week. We had a special request and I had emailed with the owner, Paul, and he had kindly agreed to accommodate us. The rooms are very nice and the bed is the most comfy bed I ever remember sleeping in. We had a balcony and there are chairs to lounge in by the river. We would most definitely stay here again.
We started out doing the Cascade Loop and Chamber of Commerce sent a brochure and this hotel was mentioned. So glad we picked this hotel. Spacious room with a beautiful view of the river from the balcony. Great location, walked into western town. Gift shops, general store and restaurants....had beautiful weather. Ate dinner at Jack's Saloon just a short walk down the street. Was very good, would recommend it. All in all a very nice, clean, spacious hotel. Really enjoyed hearing the sound of the river in the morning and the fresh air!!

We lucked into an opening at Hotel Rio Vista & we couldn't be more pleased. Wonderful sataff, rooms were clean, and the best thing is that each room has a view of 2 rivers converging right outside the back sliding glass door. We kept our slider open all night just to be able to hear the rivers rushing by. Best night sleep in a long time! Right at the edge of town, so perfect location to make the little shopping loop and end up back at the cozy hotel. And...if you're a biker, they provide special towels for cleaning your bike and they even have a maintenance room for bike repairs and/or ski waxing.

We were on a road trip and found ourselves in Winthrop. We were fortunate to find a room at the Rio Vista... The perfect gem in this fun town!! Every room overlooks the river and the sound of the water rushing past while sitting on the deck and enjoying our favorite beverage was perfect. The hotel is right in the heart of town and great walking to whatever you want to explore. The room was very clean and comfortable and when we arrived the owner walked us to our room and walked through to ensure that the staff had properly prepared it for new guests. Such great customer service!!! Thank you.. He also a great recommendations on things to do and see and was spot on with the choices.

Whether cycling through, or Nordic skiing in Winthrop, we always stay at the Hotel Rio Vista. It has a great location which is right in town, right across the street from our favorite 'the Duck Brand' restaurant, and each room has a lovely back-door river side private balcony & view. (If not familiar with Winthrop, there is always many deer sightings) It is very quiet except for the soothing sounds of the river. The rooms are very clean, great beds, roomy enough for your sports gear, and very private! They even have a hot tub located on its own balcony overlooking the river. The staff is very friendly, smart, and helpful.

Whenever I am in Winthrop I try to stay at the Rio Vista. I can walk into town, get dinner and stay in a great room over looking and listening to the river. Another bonus, if you like to watch birds, plenty can be seen from your balcony. Osprey hunt at eye level from your room.

We chose this Hotel because of its location in town and close to a lovely restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised when we opened the room door to find a clean comfortable space with a lovely view of the river which runs behind. Don't let the roadside facade detour you, we have been traveling for two weeks and this was our best pick.

We chose this hotel on a friends advice. This hotel as well as the city is a walk back into time. All suites have the most amazing view as the balconies look out onto the river. Very nice room. Clean and comfortable. Very close to all restaurants and quaint stores. Will definitely go back.

After four days of traveling and sightseeing, this has been a very delightful retreat. Quiet, peaceful and the sound of the river is an added bonus! The room is wonderful! Just the right amount of decor to match the surrounding theme of Winthrop without being overdone. We enjoyed your Guest Services Directory and learning the story and history of Hotel Rio Vista. The upgrades are lovely and well thought out. We applaud the new ownership and wish you well and much success! We will definitely be return guests and bring others with us. It's one of those places where we could stay forever!
