  • 2Plot

Gameplay[edit]

The expansion pack introduced several new features, including two hybrid classes based on existing classes, Dwarf as a playable race, and recipes crafting system. PlayStation Portable crossover items, to promote and to be used in conjunction with Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony.

Plot[edit]

The game continues where Dungeon Siege II left off. As with DS2, Broken World takes place on the continent of Aranna. However the world has changed much following the fall of Valdis and the clash of the Sword of Zaramoth and the Shield of Azunai. The protagonist continues to pursue the Dark Wizard who advised Valdis and masterminded much of what happened during Dungeon Siege II.

Part 1[edit]

The game starts in a Dryad Outpost south of Aman'lu where numerous rogue mages corrupted by the Dark Wizard have appeared and are attacking the local population. Additionally, strange beings known as 'bound creatures' started to appear in great numbers in the nearby forests. The hostile bound creatures are identifiable as mutilated creatures native to the forest. The player is asked by a refugee to find and save his brother Kanred, a rogue mage. The player is able to locate Kanred but is forced to kill him. A group of dryad patrol appears at the scene and collects Kanred's magical residue. The dryad patrols are not very happy with player's interference with their affairs. Nonetheless, player continues to pursue the Dark Wizard.

Using Kanred's staff, the player is able to track down the Dark Wizard in the Kelvaran Waste. The Dark Wizard explains to the player that he is the Overmage of the Cinbri and is in an effort to return his people to Aranna. The Overmage promptly escapes. From the conversation, the player learns that Overmage has already brought destruction to Aman'lu, protagonist's hometown. The player then seeks passage to Aman'lu.

Warden Celia, the commander of the Dryad Outpost, has sealed off the passage to Aman'lu for safety reasons and she is away on duty. While trying to reach her, player is forced to kill a rogue mage who turned out to be Celeb'hel the Elder of Aman'lu. After defeating Celeb'hel, Warden Celia appears with number of dryads and starts to collect Celeb'hel's magic residue. Celia refuses to reveal dryad's motive for collecting the magical residues and speaks about a secretive yet auspicious goal. With all the unwelcome vigilantism, Celia is more than happy to send the player away.

Part 2[edit]

Arriving at Aman'lu, player realized that it is only a shadow of its former self. The surviving residents are forced to wall themselves in against the onslaught of bound creatures. It is made clear in Aman'lu that bound creatures are the products of Familiar Surgeons. The Familiars are a race that the elves have previously fought, and nearly lost, had it not been for a group of brave warriors, named 'Crimson Hunters'.

After venturing deep into the Vai'lutra forests near Aman'lu, the player's company is able to defeat two Familiar Surgeons. While inside one of their strongholds, the protagonist learns that the Overmage is behind the Familiars and that the dryads are helping Familiars collecting magical energy.

After returning to Aman'lu, the player is sent to confront dryad's Great Leader in Solanum. The Great Leader has prepared a portal for the dryads. Just as the player arrives, the attending dryads entered the portal. While alone with the player's group, the Great Leader reveals himself to be Overmage incognito. Overmage was able to escape again by summoning a minion, and changing the destination of the portal. After defeating the minion, player enters the portal and is transported to Glorydeep Enclave.

Part 3[edit]

The dwarf inhabitants of Glorydeep Enclave are surprised by the visit of an outsider. The Overmage have enslaved them for over a hundred years to restore the buried Cinbri City. They are more than willing to help the protagonist, for they know they will be sent to the Familiar Surgeons once they are no longer needed. After freeing the dwarves from their overseers, the dwarves in turn help player enter Cinbri City.

Deep inside Cinbri City, player meets the Overmage and the group of dryads. The Overmage explained to the player that he is going to transform into Zaramoth reborn in order to achieve his goal. After player weakens the Overmage, the Overmage promptly transforms into Zaramoth reborn. While Zaramoth is powerful, it is not something the protagonist cannot handle. After defeating Overmage in his Zaramoth form, the only surviving dryad at the scene Kirani got up and recapped what has transpired. The story ends with a cinematic ending explaining the fate of all the companions.

Story

The game begins with the player-controlled protagonist and hisfriend, Drevin, serving as mercenaries in the army of Valdis, awarlord who has aligned himself with a race of Dark Wizards andwields the magical Sword of Zaramoth. The player character andDrevin are ordered to capture a temple held by dryads. After thetemple is captured, however, Valdis attacks the mercenaries. Drevinis killed, but the player character is only knockedunconscious.

The player character regains consciousness in the custody of thedryads. Rather than execute him, the dryads allow the player toearn his freedom by helping them in the war against Valdis. Afterhe earns his freedom, he discovers that he is infected with thePlague, a mysterious disease created by the Dark Wizards thatdrives its victims to insanity. After being cured by the water froman Elven shrine, he returns to his hometown.

On the way home, the player character rescues an old man fromPlague-maddened dryads. The old man then describes an event calledthe Great Cataclysm, caused when the Sword of Zaramoth that Valdiswields struck a magical shield called the Shield of Azunai. Theblow shattered the shield, causing a catastrophe that ended theFirst Age. Valdis hopes to cause another such catastrophe bygathering the shards of the Shield of Azunai so he can shatter itagain. The old man then explains the Plague, saying that it iscaused by crystals created during the Great Cataclysm that givelicense to the souls of Zaramoth’s army to possess the living.

After the player character returns home, he begins to gather thepieces of the shield himself so he can use it against Valdis. Afterhe gathers all of the pieces, he takes them to the Agallan giantsso that they can re-forge the shield. As they re-forge it, theyplace a medallion in the center of it for added durability. Thismedallion had previously been worn by Drevin; he gave it to theplayer character before he died.

With the shield re-forged, the player character travels toValdis’ stronghold known as Zaramoth's Horns . The shield protectshim from the Dark Wizards, but the battle with Valdis himselfproves to be a stalemate until the old man appears and takes theshield from the player character. He gives the shield to Valdis, revealing that he is a Dark Wizard. Valdis tries to destroy theshield with the Sword of Zaramoth, but when he strikes the shield, his sword shatters instead. Valdis and the player character resumethe battle, in which Valdis is killed.

Dungeon Siege 2 Walkthrough For Pc

Unlike Dungeon Siege, Dungeon Siege II takes amore varied approach to its gameplay. The original game was criticized forbeing too automated and lacking replay value. Developer Gas Powered Gamesimproved the old system into a more versatile one that incorporatesadditional elements of strategy.

Combatautomation

By default, the new system turns off much of the original game'scombat automation and requires players to click once for eachindividual attack of their selected character.

Siege

Fortunately for people who liked the combat system of theprevious version, the new system can be made to behave more likeit. Clicking on a monster and holding the right mouse button makesthe character continuously attack until the monster dies; this issimilar to the attack system in Diablo II. There are also options thatallow the player's characters to automatically defend themselvesand/or automatically continue to attack their targets, much like inthe old system.

Specialities and skills

In the original Dungeon Siege, the four characterspecialities (also known asclasses) differed only in the items and spellsthey were allowed to use. In Dungeon Siege II, eachspeciality (Melee, Ranged, Nature Magic, Combat Magic) has a uniqueset of skills, arranged in a skill tree reminiscent of those inDiablo II, that determines a character's particular strengths. Forexample, melee-oriented characters can get better at using a shieldto defend their allies or they can improve their two-handed weaponskills to more effectively attack opponents.

As in the original game, multi-classing (distributing experienceand skills to more than one class) is possible, but it is best todo so with caution: A character learning skills in too manydifferent areas may find him or herself spread too thin and unableto perform any role effectively.

In the expansion pack for Dungeon Siege II, 'Broken World', twonew character classes have been introduced. These classes aremulti-class characters: the Fist of Stone being a multi-class ofMelee and Nature Magic, and the Blood Assassin being a multi-classof Ranged and Combat Magic. These new classes have been given theirown specialised skill trees in addition to the others, allowingthem to multiclass more easily without being at as much of adisadvantage. For example, the Fist of Stone is able to cause smallearthquakes when attacking to keep up with the damage output of apure melee character, and the Blood Assassin is able to causetargets to hemorrhage blood to keep up with the damage output of apure ranged character (as they multi-class, they cannot upgradetheir weaponry as often and would otherwise be weaker incombat).

Powers

Another change in Dungeon Siege II is the addition ofthe Hero Powers system. Powers are special abilities thatcharacters can use when normal attacks do not suffice; they includeabilities like invincibility for the entireparty and the power to summon a lightning strike that damages allenemies in the area. They are acquired when certain skills aretrained to a certain level. Each power has 3 levels, each requiringmore skill points to get.

Powers increase in potency as characters level.

Parties andpets

Like its predecessor, Dungeon Siege II is a party-basedRPG. Players can have up to 4 characters in a party under the firstdifficulty setting (Mercenary), 5 characters in Veteran difficulty, and 6 in Elite difficulty. Aside from being able to recruit non-player characters (NPCs) thatfunction much like the player's own character, players can also buypets that grow after being feditems. However, unlike its predecessor, the hirable NPCs haveunique personalities and can converse with the player and eachother at certain points in the game; they even have their ownpersonal side quests.

Pets start off with a basic attack (and spell ifapplicable), gain a Power upon reaching the 3rd level of growth, and finally gain an emanation upon becoming Mature. Emanations arespecial pet-only auras that provide beneficial effects to friendlycharacters within range (such as increased mana regeneration).

Spells

The magic system in Dungeon Siege II remains largelyunchanged. Combat Mages and Nature Mages still have access toseparate spell lines that increase in power as the characterlevels. However, combat and nature magic are much more distinctfrom each other than in Dungeon Siege. Combat magicfocuses on causing massive amounts of damage and weakening enemieswith curses, while nature magic focuses more on healing, summoningand strengthening party members with embrace and wrathenchantments.

Parties are limited to a maximum of two concurrent buffs. Pets' spellscount towards this buff limit, but their emanations (seeabove) do not. Weapon enhancement spells, used by the Fist of Stoneand Blood Assassin characters introduced in the expansion, also donot count towards this limit.

Each enemy may only have one debuff placed on it at a time. All negative effects count towards this limit, including curses andstuns.

Deathand unconsciousness

Dungeon Siege II's 'game over' system is similar to that in manyother role-playing games. When a character loses enough health, heor she usually falls into a state of unconsciousness. The characterfalls to the ground, unable to move, and must wait for his or herhealth to slowly regenerate itself or wait for magical healing fromanother character.

If a character is hit hard enough by an enemy, or if an enemy ispersistent in attacking an unconscious character, the character mayeventually be killed. Once death occurs, the character can nolonger be healed and must be resurrected by anothercharacter or by a special NPC in town.

If the entire party is slain, the party may choose tocontinue by respawning back in town without their equipment. Theirequipment is left on their corpses. The party must then find a wayto retrieve its fallen equipment, either by venturing back to thecharacters' corpses or by having them summoned to town by an NPCfor a monetary charge.

Multiplayer

Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World Cd Key

Screenshot of a battle in the game

Dungeon Siege II supports multiplayer cooperativegaming over LAN,the Internet, and the GameSpy network. Multipleplayers can cooperate together in separate-but-allied parties. There is a total limit of 8 characters, though only 4 can beplayer-controlled. Purchased pets count towards this limit butsummoned creatures (from spells) do not. There's an unsupported'old school' mode in multiplayer, allowing up to 8 players to playsimultaneously. To enable this, add 'oldschool=true' (withoutquotes) to command line or the .ini file.

For LAN and Internet play, saved games are stored on theplayers' own computers. For GameSpy play, saved games andcharacters are stored on GameSpy's servers. The GameSpy environmentlimits the amount of online cheating that can take place, but as of latebeta, the possibility still existed.

Dungeon Siege 2 No Mouse

GameSpy characters can be downloaded from the GameSpy servers toplayers' computers, where they can then be used for Internet, LAN,and single-player games. The reverse is not true: GameSpycharacters can only be created and leveled on the GameSpy networkitself. GS network supports only original games; pirate copies are blocked due toCD-Keycontrol. Online play may therefore also not be possible with asecond-hand game.

Bugs

Dungeon Siege 2 Broken World Cheats

Dungeon Siege II has seen patches released to address a varietyof bugs. As of January 2006 there are still bugs in version 2.2that can prevent completion of the game.

  • Some enemies may disappear or appear to be 'in limbo', meaningthey just don't do anything. This affects quests where a certainenemy needs to be defeated in order to proceed, and can includeValdis himself (which requires a restart of the game from thenearest teleporter - which is quite far away.)
  • Due to a bug that still exists in version 2.20, it is possibleto wield a two-handed weapon using only one hand while holding ashield or another weapon on the other hand. This same bug can beused for duping in earlierversion of the game. Duping portion of this bug was fixed in2.20.
  • At certain points during gameplay, NPC-triggered conversationsbetween the player and friendly NPCs can be interrupted byattacking enemies. In some cases, it is not possible for the playerto re-trigger these conversations. Unfortunately, there is no patchfor this as of now. An experienced player who knows where theseconversations take place may minimize this problem by engaging theenemies preemptively while not entering the trigger area.
  • About two thirds into the game the player has to slay a dragonwith a ballista in order to proceed. Trying to save the game atthis stage has a very high probability that the dragon willdisappear from the save game. This prevents the player fromproceeding into the game and practically ends it.
  • On the first encounter with the Azunite Scholar at the exilecolony where you have to save him to advance in the conversation, sometimes even if you do save him, the conversation does notadvance, effectively ending the game. This bugs was fixed in patch2.20.
